BBC Philharmonic Principal Guest Conductor, Ben Gernon, marks the orchestra’s final night in Bucharest with a pair of seconds - Bartók’s Violin Concerto and Rachmaninov’s Second Symphony.

Kristóf Baráti is the soloist in the Bartók, a work that truly shows the composer’s consummate writing for strings.

Closing this evening is Rachmaninov’s mercurial Second Symphony with its hauntingly beautiful Adagio and imioned, joyous finale.
