ROUND 3
Round 3 is all about the intros of songs. Each pair has a clock with 45 seconds on it. They take it in turns to correctly name tracks and artists from a ‘Hit List’. When their song starts playing, their clock starts to countdown. They can shout out the answer as many times as they like but the clock will only stop once a correct answer is given. Play then es to their opponents who must try and name a track and artist whilst their clock ticks down. Play goes back and forth between the teams until one pair’s clock hits zero.
The teams have several Hit Lists to pick to play in this round. On each list are four tracks and they’re given picture clues to what each track might be to help them decide which to play. The clues might be anything from a picture of an artist mentioned in the lyrics of the track, or a clip from the BBC archive of the artist performing with their faces disguised.
Once all four tracks on the Hit List have been played, a new Hit List is selected. The teams take it in turns to pick the Hit Lists to play, meaning sometimes they’re picking a Hit List for their opponent to play first. Do they pick something they’re confident about themselves, knowing it may come back to them to play, or do they pick something they think their competition might struggle with, hoping to trip them up?
In this round the contestants also have THREE SKIPS to use if they get stuck. They use the SKIP by pressing their button once it lights up after three seconds of the track has played. Teamwork is vital in this round, you don’t want to SKIP just as your partner gives the right answer!
The pair that runs out of time first, leaves the show. The other team proceed to the Final Chart Rundown.
