“That was because Jim [Bergerac] was trying to say, ‘oh, I'm totally clean now, everything's fine’.
“I found the dynamic of the investigation a bit different compared to a lot of typical ones. I was more interested in the direction that the drama takes than I would be with every other show that we review. It's not exceptional. However, I think there has been a lot of love for it and I think it's been very well done.
“Also, this was the drama that started so many more. I think a lot of other crime dramas are based on this one.
“I completely see your view about yes, it is the 'typical detective whose got a personal life full of problems'. But this one was the original one. I think for Bergerac fans, if you were a big fan of it from the 80s, you will be impressed with this.”
