The NZ/Limavady Connection, a Lost Loom and the Start of Piping Season!

What connects New Zealand and Limavady, a lost loom and the start of piping season!

Helen Mark presents BBC Radio Ulster’s weekly Ulster-Scots magazine show alongside Rab Lennox and Willie Hill.
Helen takes a look at the life of William Ferguson Massey - a man of Ulster Scots farming stock whose emigration to New Zealand culminated in his becoming the country’s Prime Minister. of the Massey family recently congregated in NI and have been hosted at places such Stormont, Queens University and Limavady – which is where Helen meets them.
To mark the start of piping season, Rab heads to Fermanagh and chats with new president of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (Northern Ireland Branch) – Betty Booth.
Deborah White, the ‘hero’ of ‘The Warp, The Weft and The Weaver’ – a new BBC documentary - chats about how she brought a magnificent piece of weaving heritage back to life while Willie has an old story of near disaster on the narrow sea.
As always, listeners are invited to the programme with a good Ulster-Scots yarn or event to talk about. The easiest way to do that is by email - kintra@bbc.co.uk.
