Bristol City manager Stephen Kirby will leave the club after a disappointing second half to their Women's Championship campaign.

The Robins won just two of their last 10 matches in all competitions and finished sixth in the league.

It is understood the decision was made by the club to end Kirby's two-year contract 12 months early as they want to move in a new direction.

Bristol City were relegated from the Women's Super League in April 2024, but hoped to challenge for promotion this season.

However, they finished 13 points adrift of champions London City Lionesses and have a number of players out of contract in the summer.

The process of hiring a new manager will begin immediately but club sources say there are no concerns it will impact their recruitment in the transfer window.

Kirby ed Bristol City last summer after two years coaching as part of the Leicester City Women set-up, having previously also been assistant coach for their men's under-18s side.
