The width restriction has been proposed for Kilnbank Road in Market Drayton

Plans to introduce a width restriction have been announced to stop larger vehicles getting stuck on a road in Market Drayton.

The rule for Kilnbank Road would ban any vehicles that are more than 2.4m wide.

As part of Shropshire Council's proposed change, the existing two-tonne weight limit on the road between Walkmill Road and Shropshire Street would also be revoked.

A statement on the local authority's website said: "Restricting this size of vehicle will reduce the likelihood of vehicles entering and becoming stuck along this road."

It added that it would "improve road safety for all road s and amenities in the area".

A public consultation on the proposed restriction will run until 1 May.
