Five pools will offer the discounted rates for specific time slots

The May school holidays will see the return of children's swimming sessions costing 10p.

The discounted scheme will apply to children aged up to 16 years at five indoor pools in Cumbria from 26 to 30 May.

The pools at Cockermouth Leisure Centre, Workington Leisure Centre, The Sands Centre in Carlisle, Copeland Pool and Fitness Centre and Wigton Baths, will operate the 10p rate for specific time slots.

Cumberland Council said "hundreds of children" have taken advantage of the price cut every time it has run the scheme during previous school holidays.

The council said it was able to put on the sessions with from organisations Greenwich Leisure Limited and Wigton Baths Trust.

In the February half term, more than 800 young people took part in the discounted project at Barrow Leisure Centre.

Westmorland and Furness Council said it received "extremely positive" from previous roll outs of the initiative.
