Northampton Town Football Club has said a warning issued by Companies House was given because of an istrative issue.
A compulsory strike-off notice was posted for club, declaring an intention to remove it from the Companies House , which would mean the business stopping trading immediately.
The club said there had been a delay in ing forms for its confirmation statement "due to the large number of shareholders".
It said it had spoken to Companies House, which said it would "list the paperwork imminently as they work through their backlog".
In a post on social media, the club said it had been "required to submit paper forms to Companies House for the confirmation statement rather than do so electronically" because of the number of shareholders.
"The required paperwork was submitted in a timely fashion which will be reflected once updated on the system," it said.
The Northampton Town ers' Trust said the issue could be easily remedied, but it added: "This should not have been allowed to arise in the first place. We are ing the club for an explanation."
