Man charged over death of man in Lanarkshire flat

John Cairns was found critically injured at a flat in Shotts

A 39-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of a man in North Lanarkshire.

Detectives launched an inquiry after John Cairns, 24, was found critically injured in a flat in Shiel Gardens, Shotts.

Officers were called to the flat at about 08:20 on Thursday 9 May. Other emergency services attended but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The arrested man is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on later.
