Ferrari's Charles Leclerc headed McLaren's Oscar Piastri in Friday practice at the Monaco Grand Prix.
Leclerc, who won his home race last year and was pessimistic about his chances coming to Monaco, was just 0.038 seconds ahead of McLaren's Oscar Piastri.
Piastri, the championship leader, set that pace despite a crash early in the session, when he went nose-first into the barrier at the first corner, Sainte Devote, but escaped with just a broken front wing.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton was third fastest, 0.105secs off Leclerc on an encouraging day for the Italian team.

Monaco is the most important Saturday on the Formula 1 calendar, so how confident will Charles Leclerc be in the Ferrari debrief tonight? The Monegasque driver put it on pole at home last year then followed it up with a race victory - his first in front of his adoring fans.
There's one more practice session to go before we get into the cut and thrust of the pole position fight, so us again tomorrow from 11:15 BST.

That was a definitely a day of learning for the younger of the 2025 grid. Isack Hadjar was very hard on himself after a couple of dicey moments with the walls and now Gabriel Bortoleto is having a (friendly) chat with Max Verstappen following the pair's impeding incident during second practice.

The stewards have decided to take no further action for whatever Red Bull's Yuki Tsunoda did under the yellow flag. Ollie Bearman, however, is still waiting on a verdict for his alleged red flag infringement.

That's Friday practice in the books and it's Monaco boy Charles Leclerc who tops second practice with a time of 1:11.355 on the softs.
Title leader Oscar Piastri is second, the other Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton is third, Lando Norris comes home in fourth and Liam Lawson puts his Racing Bulls fifth.

Isack Hadjar is having a rotten session. The Frenchman is up to sixth place, which should be a good thing, but he's come a cropper at Sainte-Devote, kissing the wall a bit too much, and ends up telling his engineer he is "so stupid".

Is this the weekend that kick-starts Ferrari season? The red cars are leading the way thanks to Lewis Hamilton going to within 0.105 seconds of team-mate Charles Leclerc's quickest time.
However, Liam Lawson isn't happy with Hamilton. The Racing Bulls driver gave an earlier complaint about impeding to his pit wall about the seven-time world champion.

Lewis Hamilton was fifth on the leaderboard as he started his latest flyer to try to sur team-mate Charles Leclerc. The seven-time world champion completes a tidy effort and goes third quickest, nearly half a second away from Leclerc on the same soft compound.

Charles Leclerc's top time is a 1:11.355 on the softs and Lando Norris has come closest to matching it. I say closest, the McLaren man has gone second on the timesheets, as the advantage the Ferrari driver holds is 0.482 seconds.
